It was revealed recently that Iran has other secret Uranium enrichment facilities and refuses to refrain from making weapons grade materials. They are testing missles, ones which put Moscow, Italy and other parts of the world at great risk. How bad is it when even the Chinese announce they would back military action by the UN? Does this concern anyone else?

I, for one, am concerned about the mounting tensions with Iran.
But with the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq, we don't have the
additional resources to be Iran's global police.

IMO, I think it's time for country [or countries] to take on this
responsibility.

Edit: Does anyone remember how we ended Japan's reign of terror over the Pacific in WWII?

John:

The situation developing is profoundly troubling on many fronts.

However, due to Iceman's request that politics not be discussed here, I won't say more about my views than that. I think it is fair to say without getting political that this issue is going to be a major on the world stage.

Agreed Scott, I understand fully the implications this can have (and those that have geographical knowledge can see all other countries threatened by this). I did not post this to get political, regardless of political leaning everyone should be aware and concerned since a) our military is stretched too thinly as we speak and b) our traditional allies will have no stomach to come to our (or anyone else's aid).

For anyone to think that their aspirations are only to get "peaceful" nuclear power is ridiculous, this is an Idealogical and Theological regime and all anyone needs to do is to look at article 4 of their constitution that mandates arming against all of their and Allah's enemies until the ENTIRE world recognizes Muhammad as the prophet and Allah. A more disturbing constitutional mandate I have never seen.

Somehow I don't think the "Ruskies" are going to invade (unless you mean Vlad and one of our fair maidens)

I've always felt that there was much more to the war in Iraq than was ever released to the public. I believe a big reason for our presence there was to have our military based on both sides of Iran.

I am also quite scared about Iran, especially with Ahmaloooniejad at the wheel..
It has been a downward spiral since the Shah fell. An entire new generation is coming to age, raised under the oppressive govt who took two steps back in time.. but still managed to get their paws on some nukes
