I do my fair share of hiring and the quality of resumes I review varies greatly. Many I scan in mere seconds.

The purpose of a well-done resume is to get you an interview, not to get you a job. For a creative field, this is very well done. Would this be a good idea for an accountant? No.

As a hiring manager I would consider this failure if not for getting the attention he's getting from Digg. Here's why...
  1. Today landing a job is more about networking and getting your resume in front of someone who can offer him a job. Getting noticed in this way is very 1990's. Already I'm thinking he's not very much on top of the game unless he's looking for a job at the local Kinko?s.
  2. The resume needs to convey accomplishments (resume vs. job description). What did he accomplish at the positions he held or at school? What value did he provide the employer or school? For all I know, he was the office gopher at all of his jobs. And his ~8 years in school, he achieved what?
  3. The skill set pie chart has no context. When was the last time he used those skills? How proficient is he at the skills? Deployment is not the same as proficiency. People who look at charts will often place very little value on pie charts because they miss the delta over time.
  4. The email address is very unprofessional. Best to use name.name@isp.com type of address. Yes, this is like showing up to an interview in flip-flops, it shouldn't matter but often it does. Why chance it.
  5. The resume is not searchable. Often larger companies will search on keywords, images are not searchable by many search engines (especially PeopleSoft and HR data managers). But again this won't matter if he's targeting the local Kinko's.

Spot on.

It's bleedin'obvious from his list of primary skills what kind of work he's after. The c.v. fits that sector perfectly. Who wants to interview a graphic designer that communicates through 2 A4 pages of text when you could have this guy?

I think its brilliant...well done. I've seen hundreds of resumes and they all look the same, I'd hire him for being innovative alone.

While this resume would not work for a law firm (because in depth descriptions of prior legal experience and substantive knowledge are key), it looks great for a creative field, which is clearly what this guy is in. Whatever form a resume is in, it's key that it be proofread and typo-free. Typos in a resume generally equal rapid rejection.

I like it also. It conveys a lot of information in a quick scan...exactly what someone in his field needs to be able to do. It is missing some vital stats, which perhaps should take the place of the "coffee intake" graphs...but all in all, my guess is it would get him a follow up call.

Scott, do you work for a law firm? Really, I don't think that's ever been mentioned? Hey Craig, guess what!

HAHAHAHA! Dude, you're throwing me lobs here.

No, I can't. I love to run things into the ground.

I see that. That's a desireable skill for a lawyer to have. Maybe you should join Craig in law school.
