COB Adder(Tallil,Iraq)

Yeah- There were actually some combat action badges issued to people while they were hanging out in H-6. I think the rules for the CAB have since changed and require engagement of the enemy, but this was in its earlier days when you could get one for just hearing the incomming.
What I loved most about living in H-6 and having multiple "incomming" sirens a day was the way the air force people would dive on the ground and cover their heads. If they had food from the DFAC in a to-go box, they would just ditch it to hit the ground face first.
Oh the air force

Been there, done that. Spent a year in Taji back in 2004-05 when things were on the wild side. Funny watching the REMF's in the brigade aviation TOC (tatical operations center) I was a liason at jump in their battle rattle for sporadic mortar rounds that were 200 meters away. They also couldn't figure out the difference between outbound and incoming fires LOL!
Enjoy your time off. If you fly into Dallas and have some layover time, let me know I'll buy lunch at Hooters or something.
