Arghhh... In my quest to get to my 100th post, I was browsing to find the right thread to reply to when my boss walks into my cube. Unfortunately, my back is to the entrance and I had a brain fart so my reaction time to switch over to some work was slow. So, he caught me looking at e60.net. My ears are kinda burning... Alright, I'm done posting for awhile now...

Yiiikkkeesss..

Put a small compact mirror near your monitor facing the entrance, and train your eye to detect movement in the mirror. Gotta be fast with that mouse and click over to your work screen.

Wow... I'm glad I work where I do. I would have no problems with one of my directs doing a little innocent surfing and I know my manager feels the same way. As long as all the work gets done.

I have privacy screen which can only be seen by you at direct angle. Even people stand beside me won't be able to see clearly what's on my monitor.
Always have your left thumb on Alt key and middle finger on Tab key. It takes only 1/2 a second to switch the screen. Faster than you moving the mouse to the unactive screen to make it active.
As long as you've done your job right and on time, your boss won't complain.
Some people stays in his cubicle for 10 hrs and doesn't do much work, and the guy who comes in at 10am and leave at 6pm complete his work on time. Who would you choose?

What a coincidence, I was having dinner in LA Sunday night and the subject about working long hours came up. My girlfriend's friend mentioned that when he first went to work at his import/export company, people were routinely putting in 12 hour days! Apparently, some of the Asian culture i.e. working long hours have crossed the Pacific and have taken hold in at least LA for some Asian owned companies. They worked so long that dinner is provided for! If I were to be put into that situation I would have burned out a long time ago.

And, I'm replying in the safety of my home Albeit at 1:30am Wednesday morning
