Westcoast, I was going to save this one for later but after your last post here goes.

In 1980, one year before his death, Bob recorded one of his most enduring hits Buffalo Soldier.
The song refers to the 9th & 10th Cavalry Regiments of the U.S. Army, established by Congress, and was the first peacetime all black regiments in the regular U.S. Army.

They were nicknamed Buffalo Soldiers by Cheyenne warriors in the 1866-91 Indian Wars.
The song was included on Marley's first posthumously relased album Confrontation Bob Marley Music School-200px_bobmarley_confrontation.jpg in 1983, on the Tuff Gong/Island label.

is the title track of the 1977 album of the same name I highlighted in post #9. Bob Marley Music School-post_14621_1193841713.jpg
In this song Bob draws a parallel between the biblical 'Exodus' of the Isrellites out of bondage & slavery in Egypt, to the bondage of oppression & poverty experienced by people (especially black people) in Jamaica & the world over, and need for a 'Moses' like person to lead in that struggle for universal suffarage, justice & peace. The refrain, ".....we need another brother Moses...." toward the end of the song is evidence of that idea. He always believed that his calling was to further this revolution, by speaking truth to power through his music.
To a lesser extent, Exodus was also a reference to his exit from Jamaica following the politcally motivated assassination attempt in 1976.

is the title song from the album 'Soul Rebels' released in the UK in Dec. 1970, and was the Wailer's first album released outside of Jamaica. The producer of this rather obscure work was the eccentric, Grammy award winning Lee "Scratch" Perry, who's hard-edged, minimalist style can be heard on this track. Drums, rhythm & bass guitars & vocals, thats it. Enjoy

In the Jamaican vernacular, 'Babylon' is a name given to any government entity (especially military & police), power center, large corperate interests etc. that is seen as corrupt, oppressive, and that serves the wealthy & well connected at the expence of poor people. Babylon System, the 4th track on the 1979 album Survival, is a stern rebuke to all practioners of this corruption and oppression. Marley's music was a thorn in the side governments of Jamaica, the Americas, Europe, Asia & Africa, particularly that of apartheid South Africa where much of his music was heavly censored or even banned.
It is belived that Survival Bob Marley Music School-200px_bobmarley_survival.jpg was the first of an album trilogy which included Uprising 1980 & Confrontation in 1983.

The Babylon issue has always been a question for me ..... I always wondered what he meant, I suspected something different but your response makes complete sense in context...... Let the education continue Phill,

Many Cheers
