Craig, check out your state law but here in CA the lemon law is clear. If, due to warranty items, your car is unavailable for your use and off the road for more than a certain number of days while it is within the warranty period, it can be an automatic lemon. Doesn't matter what it was or how many times a specific issue arose. Broadly, if you bust the number of days threshold it's pretty black and white - you have a lemon on your hands.

2002 and 3.0 CSL are classic BMW's I really want and was planning on picking up as a 2nd car. 2002 tii is the one to get, as well as the 3.0, but both in good, working condition are not exactly cheap for such old cars since they're in the $50k range...

Having never leased, I'm no expert, but isn't it really really easy to switch to a different car in the middle of a lease? There may be a penalty fee of some kind, but if you're hating it that much it'd be worth it to avoid another 15 months of unhappiness.

2002 and CSL are definitely great cars, but don't forget the E30 M3
BTW Craig, please don't risk your life with this POS. And I'm still pretty convinced that the majority of the blame for all the troubles with your 535 lies within the dealership you're using - I don't know why, but that just seems like the more plausible explanation.
I really hope they hook you up with a great new car and give you great deal too! I mean, its about time they did one thing right by you!
