funny thing is- I havent washed it again in about a month. combo of the rainy season/not caring about the car... but today for the first time, i did somethign I would have never done- even in my maxima. Ran out of spots at work, so instead of parking it in the back lot, i drove that bitch right up a curb and parked it in the dirt with all the trucks. It looks pretty funny parked next to huge dodge and ford pickups in the woods. That is how little I care about this car at this point. And it's not because it is a lease. I respected that car and babied it for far too long. BMW fucked me with it (oh yeah, they offered me a $100 gift card to spend on tee shirts and coffee mugs) so I dont really care what the car looks like when it goes back. if it looks pretty and moves when i drop it off, the engine could be filled with dirt and diahreah for all i care.

already looked into it. has to be the same problem 3 times. the fuel pump went 2 times, then the 3rd the dealership lied and said they replaced the injectors. I know it was the fuel pump, but they know the lemon law would have required them to take the car back.

I have had tons of problems, but none documented 3 times.

+1 on the lemon thing, they can usually get you back every dime you put into the car since you first reported the issue. Happened to a coworker with a 335, he reported the HPFP issue the first time at 500 miles on his purchase (not a lease), it just got lemoned, they gave him back every penny of value from 500 miles on it. He has an X5 now and he's much happier

At that point, I would have just traded the fucker in to another luxury brand and took a loss. Audi especially salivates at the prospect of taking a BMW customer. And those new S4/S5s are sweeeet.

Yeah, seriously, that is terrible. After the 2nd time of some crap breaking, I would've gone to them and say "fuck this, you guys are paying me to drive the car and advertise for you".

That's just ridiculous.

man this thread is full of bummer sorry to here all of this craig

in the price range your looking for you will never find a running 2002 with the round tail lights, those are the MOST collectable out of all 2002's, the later model square tail light version will be easier to find

Just got off the phone with the service manager. I told him the car said "steering malfunction stop car slowly" he told me the car has to come in immediately. I told him no. I told him I am sick of the car and I am driving it until it catches fire or my lease is up. I also told him that I just want to part ways with BMW after this expeience despite being happy with my past 2 BMWs. He pulled my file and is going to the sales manager to see if they can get me in a new car. No promises- but he's gonna call me tomorrow. I think my downright refusal to let them fix yet another problem with my car sort of displayed my frustration. This time my life is at risk. I'd like to see the steering rack fall out of the car on the highway.

Wish me luck!

Sorry to hear about the problems with your 535i.

It's a repost, but here's my '02 on its way to a 2002Fest a couple of years ago. I bought it new back in 1976 when BMW announced they were going stop making them.
