Why I am not surprised that the Iceman wants to go to Antarctica?

Yep. I LOVE Penguins.

No, Rudy, I'm talking about the animals, not the humans acting like animals playin' Hockey.

I always love to going on a cruise. I have not tried NCL though, we always use Royal Carribean. I am sure they are comparative.
Tips going on a cruise:
-Travel Light, not a lot of room in the cabin. Duffle bag or colapsable travel bag is better
-Plan your itenerary on every destination, there are tours offered. only use Cruise Line tours, don't use independent source
-Schedule what you want to do while on the ship, schedules of activites are given the night before and make your plan to maximize actvity participation
-Catch an early flight to Miami to give allowance for flight delays, the ship will not wait for you. or fly a day early to enjoy Miami for a day.
-Arrange your transportation from the airport to the port. I usually have that package on my cruise
-Bring cash only for use outside the ship. Every expense onboard the ship is billed to your SEA PASS which is tied up to the credit card that you will be using.

That is all I can think of right now, I'll post some more if I think of something. GL and enjoy.

I love it cold, and besides, I don't think that will happen SO fast that we will notice a HUGE change.

WE have done both of our cruises with NCL and may be on your same ship the week before thanksgiving, if I can free up the time (my big birthday coming up). Not having any experience with other cruise lines I can only give you my experience with NCL and then some comments about other cruise lines from other passengers.

What spurred us to choose NCL over the others was their free-style concept meaning that you don't have to pick a dinner seating time in advance. You can dine in their dining rooms at any time you feel like, but reservations are highly recommended, otherwise you'll end up waiting more than half hour to get seated. Their main dining rooms offer OK food. I compare it to "Olive Garden" for quality. Then they have at least half a dozen, high end restaurant where you have to pay anywhere from $10 to $25 a person to get in and reservations are required. The food there is a cut above and offer high end cuts of meat, lobster, sushi, mexican, etc.

I thought their entertainment is great and they offer lots of excursions. The ships are clean and the rooms are well appointed. I enjoyed the Havana cigar bar which is about the only place I can enjoy my cigars without getting dirty looks (beside my balcony).

Talking to other travelers, the common denominator was that they thought that the food in the main dining rooms was sub-standard compared to other cruise lines. They were also upset that they had to pay an extra $20 to get great food. Like I said, maybe my tastes are not that refined, but I thought the food in the main dining room was good, but not great. Considering that their rates seem to be consistently lower than other cruise lines, I still saved money paying the extra $20 for the better food and beside, the smaller restaurant offer more intimacy, in my opinion. I have nothing but good things to say about NCL and will continue to us them. Hope you enjoy your experience.

I think you may be on our cruise. Our cruise departs November 20th from Miami for 9 days to the Southern Caribbean. Is that your cruise?

Thanks so so much for the tips about NCL. I am going to take full advantage of the conceirge who serves the AB PH Suites to make reservations for us ASAP. We will probably do a lot of the eating in the upscale restaurants. I do think that NCL gave us a terrific rate for a 600 square foot suite with 2 bedrooms. Victor is so excited about going.
