Hey guys,

I am off to LA for the first time, 2 weeks from now.
Buddies and I are planning a day trip down to San Diego on a Sunday or Monday (if it doesnt take to long)

Now google maps tells us how to get there, but not how long it will take factoring the notorious SoCal Traffic i hear of...

What would be the ideal time to travel to travel the I-5 (in the morning? - sunday or monday?)....and how long do you think the trip would take???

Thanks in advance!!

What part of San Diego: Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, Del Mar, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Downtown, Ocean Beach, Chula Vista? There's more I just don't remember them at the moment.

Thank you very much for the advice MacFly! We will leave Sunday morning instead of Monday Morning...

Vegastrashed....we will probably go to Mission Beach (from what iv been reading its the busiest and nicest??) and will probably check out downtown San Diego or a nice mall for shopping...

Are the OC beaches just as nice as those in San Diego?

Mission Beach may be the busiest, but it's sure not the nicest. IMO, La Jolla or Del Mar would be nicer than Mission Beach. As for OC beaches being as nice as SD that would be a "no." I've heard this from some friends that live in OC and prefer SD beaches any day.
