Welcome to the Land of 10,000 taxes. Pawlenty Veto'd the bill that raised License tab fees, which was then overridden by the DFL majority legislature. The bill included the following:

? raise the state?s gas tax by 2 cents the day after enactment and another 3 cents on Oct. 1, 2008;
? increase vehicle license tab fees on newly registered vehicles and remove tab fee caps;
? car rental tax increase.
? new excise tax on vehicle purchases.
? sales tax increase--authorize counties in the Twin Cities metropolitan area to impose a 0.25 percent metropolitan transportation sales tax without referendum. In the other 80 counties a tax of up to 0.5 percent could be raised by voter referendum;
? authorize $1.8 billion in trunk highway bonding for fiscal years 2009 to 2018, with $1 billion of that in the first two years. An additional gas surcharge tax of up to 3.5 cents would be established to repay the trunk highway bonds.

All in all the DFL gave Minnesotans $6.739 billion in new taxes with this bill.

I'll walk over to Tim's house with you. BTW, Pawlenty lives about 2 blocks away from chowbox less than a mile from me.

that's cheap considering that is what i paid for my '05 545 last year. this year (last month) my registration was $600. this state makes a killing on vehicle registration, and w/ an '08 bimmer we would be coughing upwards of $1g or close to it. :thumbsdown: tabs here are based on MSRP
