Today I was in Philly with one of my sales reps visiting a client, after which, we decided to hit the world famous Pat's Steaks, followed by Geno's Steaks. Both happen to be right across the street from each other and have been going head to head for years. Pat's has been around since 1930 and is the FIRST and the ORIGINATOR of the PHILLY CHEESESTEAK!. Both shops have been on the Food Network, Travel Channel, No Reservations (Anthony Bourdain) and many, many more shows.

I decided to bring their sandwiches home with me tonight and do a true taste test with my wife. Without question, the winner was PAT'S! Some think that Dalessandro's Steaks is the best around Philly, but I'm still sold on Pat's. It's all about the Wiz being inside every morsel of meat. No question!

They were both done with the following:
  • Wiz
  • Wit
  • Mushrooms
  • Hot Peppers

(If you're not sure what Wit is, look it up . You need to know the lingo when you place your order.)

If you are talking Philadelphia Cheese Steaks you should consider Jim's on South street. They are a Philadelphia landmark.

Just look at the line in the photo below....Out the door and around the block!

I've actually heard Jim's is amazing. I need to go. That will be my next taste test.

"wiz" is making me think thoughts i wont share outSIDE of my wacky head

on topic my g.f went to both of those places and picked one, but i cant remember which one she liked better.. that will have to be on my list of "things to do" thanks Calton

I also prefer Pat's over Geno's. Make mine wiz wit.

Most people I know like Geno's more than Pat's. But to me, Geno's cheesesteaks are piecy and are commonly duplicated by other cheesesteak shops. Pat's big hunks of cheesesteak are pretty unique and not really copied much by other cheesesteak shops.

Whenever I'm in Philly, I try to stop by Pat's. Yum!

ah, C, where's ,mine??? im hungry now!!!! we got Carls downtown now that does the good stuff, they are the ones that sell em at yankee stadium, not bad at all!!!!!!
