Hello all,

The signature limitations (with some modifications) that we've discussed in a prior thread have now been implemented. Current signatures remain un-modified however from this point on, you will not be allowed to save a signature which crosses over the limitations. Those limitations are:

A maximum of 1 image that is no larger than 500 x 125 pixels and 75 KB
A maximum of 7 lines of text in total and 200 characters per line

For those who think their signature might be questionable please go to the "My Controls" link in the menu on the upper right hand side of the page. There, under Personal Profile on the left hand side, click on "Edit Signature". On that page click on "Update my Signature". If you receive no error then you have nothing to be concerned with. If you receive an error please modify your signature accordingly.

If anyone has any trouble with this please let me know. I've designed the limits in such a way where very few members are affected while still keeping signatures under-control.

Good deal Mark. What is the maximum height of the sig box in pixels? My pic is 500 X 125 at 45 KB and 72 dpi. I'd like to know a little more clearly what overall dimensions we are working with--particularly heigth.

You know ... I'm thinking if it doesn't like those links. For example it should only count "Mind Candy" as 10 characters but it's probably counting all the BBcode, the URL itself and that title all as characters causing that character error. There must always be a problem, LOL. Well your sig is OK for us all so leave it as it is and no problem.

Thanks. And, right, for that reason, I changed the way I am handling links in my revised sig.

Anyone up for the voluntary compliance Mark ask for? Maybe everyone has done so, but I doubt it. You might be surprised that the new limitations are not as strict as you think. Check my sig out, for example. I still have plenty of room for text even with a max size image, and I think more lines are available to me. You may have trouble with links and have to use the approach I did. As Mark indicated, the sig nannie appears to count html "against you."

Thanks, Mark. This was a much needed improvement, IMO. Some of us are so proud of our wheels that we go overboard.
