Dear 'Doc Horror',

I began searching for M5 mirrors a while back. I saw your group buy, and it sounds wonderful. Before I made up my mind, yesterday I struck the deal at the local USA BMW dealership in Atlanta GA, and I got the BMW OEM E60 M5 mirrors housing, with heated and (EC) auto dim, glass for $1626.40 ( 151167897565 & 151167897566 Outside mirror M W/ - and 151167897555 & 151167897556 Mirror glass heated)
These mirrors will not be in until WEDSNESDAY, which leave me time to strike a deal with you and cancel my order. After reading your post here at E60, I am now having some second thoughts on yesterday purchase I made with BMW, and wondering can you match or beat this deal of BMW OEM M5 mirrors BMW OEM Part #'s 151167897565 & 151167897566 Outside mirror M W/ - and 151167897555 & 151167897556 Mirror glass heated ? If so by how much?

By the way if I choose to buy from you, how and who do I make my check out too, or do you want Western Union, or a major Credit Card, i.e. my Black American Express card?

What kind of warranty does your mirrors carry? Are they BMW OEM E60 M5 mirrors?

Thanks in Advance,

Eddie Presley (USA Zip 30269)

Hey Eddie,

were you not better off to have ordered them over the group buy? According to Doc's prices, your "primed" set would have cost EUR 550 which is in the USD 800s. Even with shipping to the US you are better off than ordering it from the dealer. I assume Dealer is also giving you primed mirrors?

They not they same. The space gray is lighter than the silver gray. they are two different color codes.

Hey cu rumman,

Yes I agree with you, and I can still cancel from the BMW dealers, or take delivery on Wednesday on whichever route I decide. I emailed on finding out some more info on the group buy M5 mirror thing, but Doc Horror has not answered me yet.

Like everyone else, I do want the real thing, The ONE True BMW OEM E60 M5 mirrors that I gave Doc BMW Part #s to, and I am waiting on his answer, so I can make up my mind to by from him on the group buy here, or from the Local Atlanta GA BMW dealer (USA).

Also it seems to me, that if these mirrors are coming from the UK or Europe who pays for customs getting them here to the USA, and who will warranty these M5 mirrors if something should go wrong with them?

Sure I would love to save money, without reducing quality, I just want to make sure the ones at the e60 "Group buy" are the same mirrors I am buying from my local USA dealer for $1,400.00 (+ SALES TAX). I did get the dealer to give me 20% off which is un heard of here in Atlanta GA from BMW. (The BMW North America price was $1,900.00 before the discount)

Also BMW North America tells me they do not paint those BMW OEM E60 M5 mirrors from the factory, unless going on a new BMW M5, these their selling me come primed ready to paint my BMW OEM Paint #354.

Good luck with your M5 mirrors, and be sure to let me know your thoughts!! You know it is good we have this E60 forum vehicle, so we can communicate our personal E60 findings to ALL e60 members!

Thanks in advance,

Eddie Presley - Atlanta Georgia

Hi Eddie,

i was always going to get a set of m5 mirrors for my new car, but I was not sure where to get it from. I had checked the dealer and the prices ranged from 1000 EUR to 1600 EUR inkl. 20% tax depending on the configuration (EC glass, auto fold, etc.) And then on top the mirrors would be primed, means I would have to have them painted somewhere. Since this whole thing was getting expensive, I decided to look around - the few mirrors that were going off ebay were all pre-lci, but then finally came across ca-automotive. Was set to buy at about EUR 500ish from them only to realize that they were for RHD and not LHD cars. Luckily then, Doc posted this thread. For me it was a no-brainer - I pay a bit more but for that have it painted, must be oem (becuase EC glasses only come with OEM), and also LHD. The only hurdle I have is that it is pre-lci. However, I think i have done enough homework to switch the motors from my non-m5 LCI mirrors to the new m5 mirrors.

I am not sure how involved Doc is - it is afterall 530dA who is doing the group buy. I chatted to him on the phone and he seemed to be a pleasant fella so I was confident that I was not being ripped off. On top of that - he was there in the Benelux meet as well, so we were dealing with someone who does exist Anyways, if you need his contact details (phone number), just pm me. I think i have his address, in case you want to send someone to beat him up
