Do we need to send out our old ones (550i version) to get the replacement? It'd be bothersome to do...
Generally, we would need these back as proof of purchase. The same scoops (except for 550) are used in the M5 kits so I would like to refinish them.

There you go. We will test this set up shortly. If it was a simple fix like this we will change the installation instructions for this application.
"On the driver side of the E60 cars is a step right after the ram air scoop mounting point. We have recently tested the effect this step had on air flow to the E60s air intake duct. At certain speeds, this step created some turbulance in the air flow. Creating a bridge between the gap and the step gave us a net 2-3whp gain at 70mph winds. To bridge the gap, we simply used a strip of painters tape. You may use duct tape or something similar. Please see the picture below." RPI

Thanks for the time testing it . I'll move mine to the original position and put a piece of rectangular aluminum sheet
in place of the tape.

The footprint (errr, profile) is not that great, but figured I'd ask, any impact to the engine cooling?

Not at all. I encourage you local guys to come out on our dyno day. You'll get an idea of how we test our products and how other companies test their stuff. We run the cars HARD on the dyno with no lengthy cool downs. The scoops dont affect engine cooling.

It's supposed to say "Wedge spacer under the lip."
But hey, I'm pinoy , what can I say.
The Edit option disappears later on (? hours after).
