You know, someone had a thread that Nick was the best member on e60.net. You've got my nomination as well. Thanks!

Thank you, but first of all you have to find a well disposed dealer who will do the job

You got any more info on this. Every custom installation place I talk to doesn't want to touch my car. They are afraid of messing of the electrical system. After they say that, I don't want them to touch it either.

Also, will this 2k get you just the Alpine nav, or is that for installation too? 2k sounds much better than 5k...

Can I have NAV installed after my car is delivered?

BMW North America has made the parts available for a NAV retrofit kit. The NAV retrofit can usually be installed but sometimes it depends on other options and/or your cars build date. You should contact your dealer or BMWNA and tell them your VIN and they should be able to tell you if the kit is supported or not. The retrofit kit part number is:

CCC Retrofit/Conversion Kit US: 65 90 0 390 844

Does anyone know how i could go about purchasing a nav system for my 525 2004. I have the screen but its not the larger size screen for the navigation. Can anyone quote me a price and point me in the right direction to go abour purchasing one?? Thanks

Hey There,
Just to let you know I had a couple of those nav retro kits in stock, it depends very much on the options of what your car came with.
If you would like me to research it for you, drop me an email...

yes you can, its very simple almost plug and play, as long as you get OEM BMW parts (preferbly from the same veh, to avoid re programing issues)
you will need
CCC UNIT
HIGH I-DRIVE
8.8 MONITOR
FAN WIRING HARNESS
LVDS CABLE
VOICE HARNES/MICRAPHONE
2 X TRIMS (for ccc drive/heater knobs & the trim to replace the cubby hole/tdc/pdc buttons etc)
DVD DISC (for the nav maps)
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FIT
depending on your shark fin you might need a GPS ariel, but you can use an aftermarket one if you want to leave the shark fin alone.

will take you approx 3-4 hours if you do not know your onions, but if you do ....about 1 hour
some installs dont need re programing (2 i did were fine..but 1 did require re programing ) cost approx ?125 for this

P/M me if you want to buy the compleate kit ?1250. + shipping

You can call BMW of North America and give them your VIN number to verify if you have the pre-wiring or not. From there, if you want to proceed with the retrofit, you can buy a kit and have at it. If you do end up installing things, if I were you I'd expect to have it programmed by a dealer. I think the odds of it working well without any programming are quite slim...
