The BMW can be also retrofit DVD NAV PRO is about 4000$ by Roveractive on ebay.
HUD can be retrofitted but cost 3X as they have to change the windshield, that is where the magic happens.
I have no nav at all from BMW but we have the HUD it is so cool keep you concentrated where you should always look...on the road and the car before you.

i have an 11/03 build E60 with no nav prep. NO 6UA option. Is there any dealer in southern california... preferably LA/OC area that can do it? I am willing to pay the big bucks to have it done.
I know it can be done just changing mic wiring, uploading new software etc takes a while.

There are only 2 kits left in the United States: both are in cali - Kit $2785.00 Cover $ 38.15 Nav DVD $199 Labor to install $935.00
They tell me we have to order it ASASP as they do not make these kits anymore Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply on this. These links are helpful. I've been fighting with dealers in the LA area trying to get my car retrofitted with NAV.
Since my car has nav prep or option 6UA, this is all I need right? Once this hardware is installed, I just need a software update?

Correct, but ask sellers whether I-drive controller high, and CCC trim cover with two slots (CD - DVD) are available on their kits, or not.
You can also ask them to ensure if it will work in the US.
A question doesn't hurts, even if you are not buying. They know their job, for sure.
They are selling those kinds of parts only, and you also have PayPal covering, as back-up.
