Car technology is moving so fast, if you want the latest safety, economy, technology then there is no comparison.

However, if you want a car that was designed in 80's get an X5. Depend's where you live too ! Some counties only drive SUV which is like nuclear arms race, ie; if they drive into me with that (SUV) I will be killed, so I will get one too (SUV) and so on, and so on....

Actually, on that point I saw a Ford Ka T bone a Range Rover recently it took the front axle right off and rolled the RR onto it's side - not a fast impact either..so maybe SUV is false sense of security.

 

We changed from a BMW X5 3.0d (E70 / MY2009) to a BMW 520d Touring (F11 / MY2012) this February.

The main reason was that we did not need either the space of the boot (at least, the F11 provided enough flexibility for us) nor that of the 3rd passenger in the middle. Another reason was that we wanted to consolidate costs, mainly through less fuel expenses / lower insurance (F11 is about 1/3 of the X5) / lower leasing costs.
