F10 Discussion Anything and everything to do with the F10 5 Series. The F10 made it's debut in 2010 as a MY2011.

Why does the 2011 5-series look like my wife's 2006 330xi?

Why does the E60 look old compared to the F10?

If you price it out on bmwusa, atleast from a lease perspective you can get a nice 740i for about the same price as a 550i which to me seems like a no brainer. If you are in the market for a f10 than you concede you want a lux cruiser-witih that said why not get the ultimate lux cruiser which is a tad larger but much nicer design, more lux interior and a "higher badge". Seems like really the 5 series has no place given the offering of the 740i to the U.S. Just my .02

I think its largely the front headlights and trunk lines that make the f10 equal to the e90.

If the cost is going to be similar, why would you get a less-optioned 740i instead of a loaded 550i? The 550i has a more powerful engine (the 740i has a measly V6), less mass and thus much better performance. Also, you could get almost every option in the 5 series now that is available in the 7. In my opinion, the F10 has a better design than the 7, especially in the M-Sport version. To me, the only advantage the 7 has over the 5 is in the increased passenger room in the 740iL/750iL model. That's it. (Also, you can't even get the X-Drive in the 740i model...you'll have to pay a lot more $$$ to get that in the 750i).

Actually doesn't have a v6 so clearly your knowledge of the car and thus your arguement is not worth wasting time refuting. One reason is the f10 looks like vomit and the f01 is a beauty. You clearly have never sat in a 7. The seats are like an airplane and are amazing-even wider than the 5, the long wheelbase of a 7 makes for a lux cruiser that is much more devine than the 5. You no longer buy a 5 for sportiness as its not sporty. So if you want luxury which you do if you are looking at a 5 than go for the more luxurios car which is equally as sporty.

The measley engine by the way puts out 330hp/330tq. That is more than the v8 from a few years ago. Wouldn't call it measley. Especially since 1000 tune can give you 450 hp and make it more than the v8 and a lot lighter

The F10 is a good looking car, there's no doubt - I just wish it were a little more distinguishable from its siblings. You can bet your bottom dollar that the F30 is going to be a slightly smaller F10.

Still, BMW clearly felt that it had to be more conservative with the design and it's working out. Sales are good, the design isn't polarizing like the E60 and it is a design which is modern, clean and fresh. I will say that for me the only real design issue is that it looks so much like the Seven. I just wish it stood out a little more.

Then again, I drive a car which looks like it's 40 year older brother so what do I know
Agree.

F01(7), F11(5), Upcoming F30(3) = Russian Doll syndrome.

OK, by now everybody around here knows that you're a worthless TROLL and that you post the same garbage here time and time again to flame the F10 and its owners.....so why don't we dispense with the B.S. and get to the truth.

V6 or TTV6.....so what?.....it's still a 6 cylinder dummy. (In a $70K+ car). And the 740i's engine makes 315hp, not 330hp, so who's the idiot around here that don't know the cars?

....and we're not talking about "a few years ago".....315hp in a $70K+ "Flagship" luxury car nowdays is inadequate. Even a frickin Hyundai Genesis now makes 385hp.

To call the 740i equally as sporty as the 550i is ludicrous. The 550i sport will run rings around the 740i.

And why talk about mods?.....sure you can mod the 740i and get more hp....but you can do the same to the 550i. But unlike the 5 series, very, very few people go out and buy a 7 to mod it.

If you want to play chaffeur, I guess the 7 series would be a good choice because of the additional room.

Why don't you do everyone a favor around here and quit posting the same thinly-veiled F10-hate crap. We know you constantly and secretly obsess about the F10....either get one or STFU.

Actually anyone who knows anything about the bmw TT engines know they are making well above the rated HP so 330 is actually conservative. Probably closer to 345 or so. It also does not weight very much more than the 5 so why in the world would the 5 run circles around a 7! that is ludirous.

Clearly you have no clue about bmw's nobody who has any common bmw sense would not really know "v6 or I6tt whats the difference-they are both 6 cylinders" Clearly you just have no clue

Well then accordng to your "logic," my 550i which makes "only" 400hp should really be making closer to 450hp because it's a TT engine also.......or does that only apply to the 745i because it has a "magic" TT engine or simply because you said so?

You're so desperate for the F10 to fail, it's really amusing to see what you'll come up with next.

I guess it must be eating you up pretty good to see the F10 selling so well while the 7 continues to be mediocre.

Sucks to be you, pal
