F10 Discussion Anything and everything to do with the F10 5 Series. The F10 made it's debut in 2010 as a MY2011.

Why does the 2011 5-series look like my wife's 2006 330xi?

Please don't flame me... it's a serious question. I wonder if I am the only one who has made a similar observation.

I guess there is a little resemblence...if you look hard...

Here's the 2006 3 series:

But I think the current 3 series resembles even more:

However, there's no denying that the F10 is the 7's little brother....Here's the 7:

I've mistaken an LCI 3 for the new 5 several times in my rear-view mirror.

The Three, Five and Seven are now essentially one sausage available in three sizes...

The F10 is a good looking car, there's no doubt - I just wish it were a little more distinguishable from its siblings. You can bet your bottom dollar that the F30 is going to be a slightly smaller F10.

Still, BMW clearly felt that it had to be more conservative with the design and it's working out. Sales are good, the design isn't polarizing like the E60 and it is a design which is modern, clean and fresh. I will say that for me the only real design issue is that it looks so much like the Seven. I just wish it stood out a little more.

Then again, I drive a car which looks like it's 40 year older brother so what do I know

The F10 does look like the 3 series from the side, and the back because BMW gave the F10 the 7 series front, and the 3 series rear. In certain colors like white, and black it looks decent, and there is less legroom than the E60.
Opinions are like assholes everyone has one, the F10 looks more like a larger 3 series to me because of the tail. If you can afford the 7, hands down the 7 is your best bet. At the end of the day it's what you like, and not anyone else since it's you're $$$ you worked hard for to buy what makes you happy.

Agree with this response. Bmw has always been like that. Chris bangle kinda screwed that trend, hence the reason he is no longer there. With that said i am an e60 owner so i did like his work. LCI e90 sedan and f11 do share a lot of simliarities. Expect the new 3 series to have a similar but more simple interior as well!
