I believe it is the number of the song playing from your iPod/MP3 player. I keep an iPod permanently plugged into the USB port in my center console and the song numbers appear just as yours does..

Not sure it's really meant to be a minus sign... but who knows what goes on in the mind of German engineers! I always thought it was a dash before the number...

I have downloaded a full USB of music. For every file I chose, the number is the position of the song in that file. And it is a dash, not a minus.
