I started to look more closely into the F10 and I was shocked at the weight. Anyone else notice and wonder why there is a 500 lb increase over the E60? That's pretty significant!

The massive weight gain is a cardinal sin. No technology can change the basic laws of physics. More weight equals less nimbleness and decreased transient response in handling. The weight gain is disporportionate to the F10s increase in size and is a product not only of more technology being packed into the car but also from a decrease in the use of aluminum in the car -- a money saver for sure. Lookswise, I am fine with the F10. And I haven't driven it yet. The 550's massive power gain should more than negate the weight gain in terms of acceleration. But that won't change the inevitable handling consequneces in thwe twisties.
Then again, the E60 did not always give a top notce performance in crash tests. Everything is a tradeoff I guess.

Yes indeed. It is not sustainable to have such a weight increase at each iteration. In fact I'm more worried about that than about the reviews concerning steering, and lack of road feedback on it, complaints which we already heard when the E60 was released, and which mainly concerned the optional active steering.
