The new M5 will be amazing I am sure! I love how the CTS-V still compares itself to the current M5 and they claim it to be superior (don't get me wrong the CTS-V is a monster)....wait till the new M5 hits the streets...then do the comparo

Car and Driver reports that BMW may not offer a manual transmission in the F10 in the US. Yikes! They report that the F10 M5 will have a 7 speed DCT transmission and that it will have a TTV8 tuned to about 600 bhp. Think of what that will be tunable to.

Interesting info..I wonder why there would be a delay on the 528...I am still hoping they drop the non-turbo so it will be "easier" to get a 535...guess we shall see.

The model lineup will still be the same, at least for the first year:
528
535
550
...with the new N55 replacing the N54 and the TTV8 replacing the normally aspirated V8.

My source tells me that the 528 will be the last model to surface next year (July)...
so I'm wondering if BMW has something up their sleeve for the base engine?

And then wait until GM "uncripples" the LS-A, and you have a stock CTS-V with well over 600 bhp too... If you're so minded, it's already possible to get a CTS-V with over 800 bhp.

Moral of the story is that there really is very little point bench-racing unreleased cars...

Yes, GM significantly detuned the engine when it took it from the ZR1 and dropped it in the CTS-V. In the ZR1, the engine makes 638 bhp -- a jaw dropping number. In the CTS-V, it makes "only" 556 bhp, a drop of 82 bhp.

That's just it ... Caddy is comparing the CTS-V to the outgoing M5 in real life NOT bench racing. The outgoing M5 has been around for some time and the Caddy is the latest greatest. I want to see a REAL comparison of the CTS-V with the upcoming M5 that will be a TRUE comparison. My whole point was to see a real life comparison between the two. There is lots more to king of the super sedans than just power...last I checked BMW knew how to make cars handle and brake well too ...I want to see them go at it once it comes out.

I am a big fan of the CTS-V I was number 5 with deposit on the list at my local Caddy dealer before they were released...I decided to give up on it because it did not reach the deadline I had set but I still love it. I am considering it again for next year. The car is a beast I just want to see it compared PROPERLY to the equal beast upcoming M5... that's all.

True, but the posts were comparing a current production car in the CTS-V to one, the F10 M5, where neither the car nor the official specs have been released... Point being by the time the F10 M5 is actually available, and it most probably won't be right away if BMW history repeats itself, who knows what the production CTS-V, E63, RS6 and XFR etc might be capable of at that time? I don't doubt the F10 M5 will be a monster either, but the only valid comparisons are those between cars one can actually buy!

I agree but I still believe that comparing the outgoing M5 to the CTS-V is not a fair fight and I will be happy to see the CTS-V compared with the new M5 once it is available!

I'm tired of reading about Cadillac on BMW forums.
