is it normal for this 2011 550i to go through about 1 quart of oil every 1500 miles??

Agreed. I just thought I heard the 8 cylinder motors go through oil. Just wondering what others have experienced.

You might want to check for leaks. Either oil filter gasket or valve cover gasket. Could be both, just had mine replaced bc it was going through oil like yours. You can see it in front of the oil filter case, clean it off if it’s dirty, drive it, check if oil got on it.
