Have just driven a F10 525d and while it was not slow in any meaning of the word, it wasnt brutal during acceleration either.

As there is a difference of around 100Nm (450 and 540/560) between the 525d and the 530d I was wondering if anybody can comment on the difference between the two?

But I gotta say that the BMW 3l six cylinder diesel must be on of the most cultivated diesels out there. The sound and feel of that engine is in a class of its own (for a diesel)!
