I disagree. BMWs have always been angled to the driver... always until recent years. I really miss the driver centric console and feel the E60 could really use it.

I think you may have designated the new engines to the wrong machines. The bi-tubo direct-injection 4.4L V8 goes in the 550 and cranks out 408HP. The 4.8L V-8 goes in the 540 and puts out 367HP.

where is all these information coming from? If we could tell whats coming in BMW in 2010 then we would have been working for Lexus or Mercedes and not driving a e60 ....jokes apart really what is the source for this information?

Hummm 4 years and they still havnet changed the engine for the 528i Whats now in the 328i, 230hp and 535i whats now in the 335i 300 hp?
If you look at BMW in the last 4 years they've gone through countless engine changes... I think they'll boost power in those engines too by 2010/2011 especially the 335i/535i engine.
We'll see...

All speculations . . . . everybody wants to be the prophet that predicted corrected . . .
I wouldn't mind a bi-turbo over an NA engine as long as it last and pulls the car along more efficiently without lost of power. But it will eventually come down to the laws of physics. The combination of lightwieght materials and efficient engines will yield the faster car.

I just hope that those photos we have seen so far are completely wrong. If the F10 comes out looking like those pics, where it looks like an uglier version of the E90, with a Lexus rear end.... as much as I hate to say it.... I'll never buy it.
In fact..... that just gives me more reason to take extra-special care of my E60. If the next one is that ugly, my E60 might hold it's value better.

- Styling will be less radical
- Light weight materials will be used throughout to lower the overall cars weight but with added equipment will weigh as much as today?s current E60

I like the somewhat radical route, thats why I dig the E60. The new BMW commercial says, "That might be too successful Jim." Everyone was bitching about the 7 series after launch and now its fully accepted. IMHO, 4 years later it still tops all the other brands in terms in styling (not to mention driving), including the pretty decent A8.
Cars should be getting lighter for performance and fuel economy. Why thread water? Do we need all the additional equipment? Hope BMW re-priorities the sport in future models. I mean there will always be Lexus and MB lurking with their stuff .

Let's just assume the figures ARE correct. It seems odd from a marketing standpoint to have the 550 produce less power than the 540. "You want me to pay more for less horsepower?"
Most people don't even know how to interpret the BMW badges on the back of the cars.
Hell, most people don't even know it's not a V6.
