I just hope that those photos we have seen so far are completely wrong. If the F10 comes out looking like those pics, where it looks like an uglier version of the E90, with a Lexus rear end.... as much as I hate to say it.... I'll never buy it.

In fact..... that just gives me more reason to take extra-special care of my E60. If the next one is that ugly, my E60 might hold it's value better.

how do you know all these things?

whats going on with the 540 and the 550?
is the 540 gonna be more powerful than the 550?
or maybe you made a mistake and you meant to write 460hp

I wonder why BMW wants to do a biturbo V-8 to get just 410 HP. Sounds like a bad idea to me. Look at MB--mucho HP natuarally aspirated V-8 which gets excellent mileage. And, the new M3 400 HP V-8 is naturally aspirated. And, only 360 HP or the 550?

Angling the console to the driver? Makes it more expensive to produce a world car. The orientation of the wipers on the e60 aren't even modified for righ-hand drive!.

And no diesels?

It's not April 1st is it?

Good point Znod. I think the reason is that the 550 is more of a luxury car and a less stressed, lower rpm dual-turbo engine is more consistent with this role.

M3 and M5 owners are much more tilted toward performance and will put up with peaky torque curves, jerky SMG and high revs to achieve performance.

AMG does seem to have found a happy mid-point as the new NA 6.3L engines are much smoother and relaxed than the old 5.5L supercharged ones. The new Audi S8 also may have it right after making the Gallardo V10 engine less peaky - but then it only turns out 450hp. Maybe BMW engineers just suck at their jobs?

4.4 liter Bi-Turbo V8 will make around 410 hrp and torque will be 450@1400 rpm

I doubt your torque figure very much. It is not typical of NA or non-NA engines.

I disagree. BMWs have always been angled to the driver... always until recent years. I really miss the driver centric console and feel the E60 could really use it.

That said, I read somewhere that the height of the F10 would be about 1" lower than that of the E60. The E60 is a tall car.

And the change in design was for aesthetics. or a world car (economic) manufacturing, decison?

We'll just have to wait to see which way it pans out.
