i just noticed, there were no e70's besides the e70 (x5) and the page includes some prototypes, i wonder why those numbers were not used.

[quote name='MEX' date='Jul 30 2005, 03:49 PM']he's talking about the project number...

like E60, not the commercial number, only internal use.

Cool, i wasn't very fond of the idea of a E100

Yeah, could you imange if BMW stuck with "E" forever.

It would be E100, E150, E200, ... then E350 and E500 ... Hmmm. where have I heard that before?

i like the way they used the codes before, check out for example e36, it has 16 different configurations, it even includes the z3 and z3 roadster, because it was focused more on the platform than in the configuration.

Now they use a different number even if it mostly the same car (for example e60 and e61). It is deffinetly harder to remember, just a few years ago if you saw a 3 series you could say it was a e46, regardles it having 2 or 4 doors or being a cabrio, now depending on the number of doors it could be a e90, e91 or e92.. geez!!?

I agree. E90 for the entire range of 3 series cars would be good for me.

I think they have failed to E is fast enough to 99, they were still on the E46, six years later, they use the E90 ... I wonder if all the other digits were used in a sort of internal project

You are responding to a six year old post. But as you can see, forum members were right so long before the actual F10 rolled out.
