Together with the new rear end of the M3, the following about the iDrive system: (loosely translated)

The new i-Drive system as introduced in the new 7 series will be available as of this autum in the 1, 3, 5 and 6 series.
High res disply 8,8", higher detail of maps. New buttons (direct access) around the I-drive knob. Navi professional has a 40Gb drive for map and audiofiles. Copying CD's to the HDD is possible but only for 8Mb. New phone adapters allow for playing music from a smart phone. More adapters for more types of phones including the iphone and telephone functions can be controlled via i-Drive.

Maybe it's already elsewhere on the forum but beter double than not mentioned.

Is it even possible without tearing everything inside apart? If it is, I KNOW BRUCE CAN DO IT!!!

Pushing back the production of my MY 2009 5 Series for this. I hope it's worth it.
