Simply enjoy the car you have. Different people buy different cars to meet their own needs and wants. A 528 is no worse than an M5 as long it meets your needs. But putting an M5 badge on a 528 is not just marketing, it is out right deception. And while there are many who may not know the difference, there are many who do and this person appears foolish to these hardcore BMW enthusiasts.
I agree.

Its just retarded. Why would you pretend to have something you don't. Its like having sex with a strap on, to justify some ones shortcomings. Maybe a fake fashion bag or watch, but a car??? C'mon.

Great idea. Where can I get a M5 badge for my 550i? Just kidding. Why would i want my wife to think that I spent that kind of money?

u know. For the average Joe, they WILL think it's an M5 if he's tuned. Think about 480 hp. He will blow by the average car LIKE an M5. And honestly, not too shabby compared to an E60 M5. The bad thing is that the F10 with the Hamann stuff is REALLY growing into me. This is bad! REAL bad.

Just get a simple Dinan chip upgrade for the 550i (495 hp, 573 lb-ft) and you can turn it into a real beast that'll approach something close to a real M5.

The problem is that BMW has really watered-down the M division to the point that it has, in my opinion, de-valued the real M cars to some extent. Nowdays, you can add the M-Sport package along with other once-exclusive M parts to just about any model. For me, it's still somewhat strange and "not right" about seeing a "M" sport steering and a "M" door sill on a 535i or a 550i w/ M-Sport. (Even more ridiculous seing it on a X5 or X6). They should have called the M-Sport package something else...like an "Advanced Sport" package. I know it's all about the $$$ for BMW but sharing parts among model lines shouldn't involve the M.

I have no idea why in the US you can get the M-Sport package on a F10 528.

Maybe because people are moving to more fuel (and cost) efficient cars and want the same level of choice as they had before? That's certainly a key driver here in Europe and has been for a long time. In Europe you have been able to get the M-Sport package on all E60/61 models and you can do the same with the F10/11. All 4 of my E60/E61 came with the factory M-Sport pack, which range from the entry level 520d (2.0 4cyl diesel) to my current 550i (4.8 V8).

I think whoever took the pic should have crashed into him, dragged him out of the car and tortured him until he admitted it was stupid and revealed his reasoning behind it!

Thats what I think!
