With the twin turbo N63 V8, the replacement for the 550i should be an incredible car. However, I'm not so sure that the F10 will be out next year. Production of the MY 2009 E60 has started and I doubt that MY 2009 will be a short production year.
There is a new model release schedule on one of the F10 threads and that states the F10 will be released late 1st quarter of 2011. Friends at BMW Korea have conveyed the E60 replacement will not be released into the market in 2010 and the consensus of opinions seem to follow that.
But in the off chance that the F10 is released sometime next year. It looks like I'll be in possession of my 5 for less than a year.

The next-gen 5er will not be out next year. 2009 debut in Frankfurt Auto Show, Available in EU Spring 2010, US FALL 2010 as 2011 model year , we are likely to see the car by Summer 2009 just we did this year with the F01 7 series.

The now new twin-turbo V8 will for sure be available as a 550i, but with some more horsepower than now,
as a twin-turbo 3.0 L6 with some 350 hp and 500 Nm as maybe a 540i?
I'm more interested in the new small diesels to come, a twin-turbo 2.0 L4 with some 220 hp and 450 Nm maybe?

So a BMW 555i is not likely, at least not in EU.
