I liked it better when each of the models had their own unique persona

Basically, BMW has returned to its pre-Bangle design philosophy of strong family resemblance in all 3 sedan lines. That model served BMW well and BMW was very successful with it. The E60 was a bold, revolutionary step given how different it looked from everything else on the road and everything else that BMW made. It is sad to see BMW recede from cutting edge design. But I still think that the F01 and F10 are great looking cars. Let's hope that BMW's foolish more to pork up the weight from the E60 to the F10 does not mess up its class-leading spry handling. It is that unbelievable handling prowess -- not the exterior look -- that is the true soul of BMW that gets drivers hooked and keeps them coming back to BMW.

But now, they all look the same, just in different sizes.

Kind of ridiculous since the models are aimed at different demographics. I'm a 30-something, I don't wanna drive a smaller version of a car that is made for 50+yr olds (the 7), but I do want something bigger than a 3.
Ugh, BMW has really disappointed me.

Take into consideration when you get the F10 ///M-type or better yet the ///M5 you'll never look 50! Even if you are 50 although you'll have to wait a bit for that...

The new 3 series refresh modifies the nose of the car to look like the 5 and 7 series. This so absurd. BMW is reverting back to strategy of "one sausage, 3 lengths". BMW is also the losing its creative edge. That what you get with senior citizens on the board of directors making important design decisions.

Yes - one sausage in three sizes... It's a shame, particularly on the 5 Series as that's always been the one that could be "different" given that it's essential raison d'?tre was to blend the sportiness of the 3 Series with the luxury of the 7. I like the F10, but I think it's an opportunity missed and it's a shame that BMW didn't have the courage to stay the course and continue the Bangle revolution. As it stands, the F10 is almost as generic as the E60 was rule breaking.
Now, while I wish the new F10 was a little more forward-leaning, I think M-B completely blew it on the new E-Class and the new F10 will clean MB's clock. The new E-class I find fairly jarring from any view but the front. That angled side line looks very incongruent to me.

Let's expand the series a bit:

The departure of Bangle's creative design can't be anymore clear when you see this lineup. I still like the F10, but point being is these three series of cars look more like "immediate family than cousins"

Could not agree more. When I see the f01 driving by, my first reaction - ''nice 3 series''

So to summarize the 7 looks like a German LS460, the F10 is a smaller 7, and the 3 a smaller 5. So my next car should be an Audi? Someone needs to take a flamethrower to the BMW design team.

Well, guys let's not forget that the F01 and F10 are meant to be an "evolution" era and not "revolution"...
So in 2016~2017 and if the "revolution" BMW cars still look like this, I might change and seek other brands... I'm still glad that the F01 front mimics the E60... and the current 3 Series Coupe rear is pretty much the smaller version of the 2G E65 7 Series.!
