Autocar has this review and it sounds pretty BS to me.
What say you.

agree - BS

"subtle but extensive use of chrome has a class missing from the BMW"

first, what does he mean by this - what exactly is subtle about the extensive use of chrome?

second, if he wants car with lots of chrome inside, then i dont want to read his reviews and opinions. thats just an example, the whole article is like that.

There is another test at Auto Bild - 535d vs E-Class. There, the BMW wins... for the same reasons for which it loses at autocar. Go figure.

Can we just confirm that the following is the article we're talking about -

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/247298/

Anyway, I am yet to drive the F10 5 Series but I would actually agree on one thing (at least) from the above article -

"Both cars look disappointing, notes Frankel. The Mercedes is odd, the BMW just bland and unimaginative."

Mercedes E-Class looks like a Lexus and BMW's F10 looks like a LCI E39 5 Series with a tweak.

But, I'm REALLY interested to know the balance of the F10 considering that it's gained 200kg in kerb weight from the E60! This might have actually spoiled the balance. I'm really curious to have a drive of it.

I'm sure we can all agree though that from all previous models or at least the recent E-Class & 5 Series, the 5 Series always had more noise etc, particularly from E60 due to Run-flats. But I didn't mind it, and all you have to do

is just take 'em off and put in non-run-flats.

Obviously, the above are my personal opinion so those of you who disagree please don't flame me too much.

Of what I seen and read, the M-B looks like a relic both inside and outside compared to the F10.
The M-B L4 diesel engines only have a 5 speed auto and the CO2 emission are much higher than the F10s.

I have test driven the new M-B 250Cdi auto but not the new F10 525dA nor the 520dA.

My current 520dA is a much better car to drive than the new M-B 250 Cdi auto.

I'm waiting for the UK's Whatcar test, where it will probably be tested against the E and XF. That will be far more meaningful.

I have seen Autocar award some strange victories before, and you can't help thinking that they might be trying to get in early with headline grabbers and an "alternative" view??

Having said that, the 5GT didn't too well in the Whatcar test. They reckoned the ride wasn't what a GT should be, and too much Road noise. I hope the 5 Saloon fairs better!!
