In the first full month (June 2010) of U.S. deliveries of the F10, BMW sold a total 3,865 5 series - but they don't break out which model sold how many. My guess is that sales of the old E60 (plus the GT) probably make up several hundred units of this total, so the F10 sales figure is likely to be over 3,000 units.
By comparison, way back in October, 2003 when the E60 began deliveries here in the U.S., BMW sold 2,840 E60s that month (along with 144 E39s).
Given the current economic conditions, I'd say that sales of the F10 are off to an impressive start.

I'm sure a good portion of those 5 series sold was the E60.....most likely due to aggressive discounts since the F10 was just introduced...still, that's a good start for the F10 given the economy. Even though some guys might think otherwise, I believe the relatively conservative styling of the F10 has helped sales....esp. among the older buyers whom the F10 I think is marketed towards. The Bangle-designed E60 was such a huge departure from the previous gen.that it took a while for people to accept it. I'm pretty confidant the F10 is not going to suffer the same problem.

the f10 will eventually do 2 things IMO
(1) bring e39 owners that left the 5 series line back into the fold
(2) convert current e60's nay-sayer owner's into the f10 owner's
