We have an updated reliability stat for the 2011 BMW 5-Series based on owner responses through September 30, 2011.

With a reported repair rate of 41 repair trips per 100 cars per year, the F10 has improved in the last few months, and is still "about average" but now not far from "better than average."

Thank you, once again, everyone who has been helping with the survey. We'll have further updates in February and May. The more owners participate, the better then information we can provide.

I have two problems with my car, both has to do with cold weather conditions.

1) The heater "whistles" from the middle vents. BMW has addmitted to this and a repair is delveloped.

2) The battery is close to die in very cold temps, the new AMG-battery system is not up to cold.
BMW is now developing some kind of solution to the problem.

Updated stats later this month.

We'd love to provide precise stats for all model years--just need more owners involved.

Interesting to see how we go from a low to moderate failure rate VERY quickly, and right at about the time when the new car warranty period ends.

BMW had better figure out how to build a car that performs well and is reliable OUTSIDE of the warranty period, and do it fast or they are going to start losing customers.
