My Ride: 2004 525i M Sport Automatic, M Sports Package, Bi-Xenons, Sunroof, Hot Climate Version, Navigation+TV, 18" Double Spoke 135M Alloys with Runflats, Anthracite Headliner, M Leather Steering Wheel. Through Load System, Hifi Loudspeaker System, Alu Cube Pure Interior Trim, Flashlight Cloth/Nappa Leather Sports Seats, M Sports Suspension

Cold Start Vibrations

Anyone experiencing harsh vibrations on an N20 528i after cold starts? Vibrations come in when engaging gear to D either from R or D. Restarts from ASS are also harsh during this time. From P to R no issues with it and no issues when idling. Once the car is fully warmed up, all's normal.

My Ride: 2008 BMW 528xi PP

I noticed that the N20 requires about 20-25 seconds of warm up from a cold start and then it really mutes all that drivetrain clatter. Maybe try that?

It took more than that. It needed approximately 10-15 mins and the oil temperature at about 90 celsius before it gets better. Anyway, problem has been solved due to bad engine mountings. Car is alot much quieter and smoother to drive now. Even ASS restarts are barely noticeable now.
