Any signs of the 520d making it over to the US of A?
I'd be interested to know if any of the US members had driven one and what they thought? - without any of the obvious I'd rather have a V8 comments
It goes well and the economy is smashing. Seems to tick all the boxes (and a little lighter than the 550 too)

Well, being that there was never an E60 diesel here in the US, I doubt BMW would set a precedent with the F10. Of course anything is possible. However, being that there are so few gas stations serving diesel in the US (outside of the big cities), I just don't think the demand is there. I think there is a higher chance of a F10 hybrid coming out rather than a diesel.

For some reason, I just don't think the demand for a 5 series D isn't there in the US yet and BMW is trying to save money during these bad economic times. Which is a shame because I agree with a lot of you that a diesel engine would be a great match in the 535. For some odd reason, BMW just hasn't promoted the benefits of diesel as much as they should have in the US, and as a result, a lot of Americans either don't know about it or have those age-old bad preconceptions of diesel technology. In America, hybrids are still the favorites when it comes to alternative fuel/green vehicles and I don't think that will change anytime soon.
Speaking of hybrids, I think what Infiniti has done with the new M35 Hybrid is amazing. The combined output of that car's engine is a whopping 360hp and can go from 0-60 in about 5 sec while achieving 32 mpg! (It can go up to 62 mph just on electrical power alone!). I'm not sure if a diesel engine is capable of matching these types of figures but it's intriguing. The M35 Hybrid just very well maybe the future of the sports sedan.
