An interesting month for those following the ongoing F10 and W212 E Class US sales discussions.
For April, BMW recorded sales of 3668 units, with the year to date total for the 5 Series being 16721 units. This includes 5 GT sales. The W212 E Class recorded sales of 5342 units, a year to date total of 20341 units. This includes E Class coupe sales. The F10 had the bigger gain in terms of year on year sales growth, but the E Class recorded much healthier numbers in the prior year so a smaller gain is to be expected notwithstanding the higher absolute sales numbers.

Looks like the F10 is continuing to do well. I'm seeing more and more F10's out on the road every day. It'll be interesting to see what impact the rising gas prices will have in the next several months.
The E-class has an unfair advantage in that there are more versions of it than the F10 (esp. in the US...to appeal to more people) and the current design has had a year head start.

The F10 sales are strong, but they fell by 18.3% from the previous month versus a decrease of 12.5% for the E-Class.
Regardless of the E-coupe and convertible, the E-Class sedan continues outsell the F10.

The US E-Class also has the big advantage of having Blu-Tec diesel, which is going to be very important in the upcoming months as gas prices go over $5/gallon.
Then there's the E63 AMG which is available now to appeal to enthusiasts.
So not only does the E-Class enjoy more body choices over the F10 but more engine choices, too. (as well as a years head start). So the bigger sales numbers is not surprising.
BTW, the new CLS looks sexy as hell!

Really?
Who cares?
Here's the reality:
I'm enjoying a delightful and well-built luxury car while you spend away what's left of your miserable life trolling message boards sitting in the basement of your parent's house wishing you can afford a Pinto.......Now THAT'S a LOSER!

Yes, it was an off month for the F10 (-20% from March), while the E-Class also declined (-14%).
The overall story for April is defined by Japan. U.S. sales of vehicles manufactured in Japan fell 22% from March, and sales of Japanese models manufactured in North America fell 15%. But the domestic brands didn't take advantage as their sales were flat from last month. Total U.S. sales declined 7% from March.
Notable Results in April
Deliveries of the new Audi A7 began in April with 408 units sold
Despite issues with manufacturing in Japan, Nissan Leaf sales were up 48% over March (573 units)
Jaguar XF and Jaguar XK both sold well in April (+44% and +20%)
Deliveries of the new Fiat 500 began in March with 500 units sold, followed by 882 units in April
Porsche 911 sales are up 6% over last month and +11% YTD. Overall, Porsche sales are up 23% over last month and +40% YTD
BMW 7 series took a tumble with sales down 35% from the prior month and YTD -22%
