Replace the new engine is not easy like we think, it supposed that have to replace some parts as well. I am in Chiang Mai, and I have order the 525d from BMW dealer shop last week. And before I made this order, I have checked the thailand grey-market for many days...some shops offer the BMW M5, which is the quite powerful saloon vehicle, and the price is around 9,500,000 Bath, also it can be cheaper depend on different equipments.
I would like to strike a balance between minimal part replacement and most powerful engine. So what do you think is the most powerful engine I could get without changing too many parts? Do you know the cost? It would probably be 535d or 540d at around 500,000-1.5 million baht (my best best would be 535d at 750,000 baht). Is my estimate correct?

Moreover, replace the engine may causes the safety problem, you have to think of the engine compartment volume, gearbox matching, weight on the front and rear...Once you hands-on, there is no regrets, performance of the car could be worse.

what if you export your car to some other country, and buy another car with the engine you want, then re-vin it to your current car vin. then sell your old car abroad. then import the re-vin'd car to home.
