I just discovered (courtesy of Mike Miller and Bentley) that a "Repair Service" is required to program / code the xDrive system when the transfer case fluid is changed.

Does this need a trip to the dealer, or can it be done using a scan/diagnostic/rest tool from Peake or Bavarian Technic? Any answers, comments, or suggestions?

Thanks!

Following up...

This appears to be a valid requirement. The Bavarian Technic tool for has a "Transfer Case" module that supports "Commands" and "Coding" for the transfer case in the 2006 E61.
