It is likely you got a tank of non-ethanol fuel that time.

I have not done a test yet in the bmw but my lr3 responds very well to non-E gas yielding much better mpg.

It's possible, but unlikely, I suspect. The 31 mpg run was on gas from a semi-regular Shell station sporting the usual "up to 10% crap" labels.

The car's two best mpg runs have been on the same route: I26 west (north) from Asheville, NC to I81 north into northern VA. The car did 29 mpg on this route this past February, and 31 mpg in early August. Both runs were on Shell 93 AKI fuel, but from different stations.

All in all, not bad for an AWD drive station wagon of its size and power.

Happy Labor Day (U.S.), all!

Year: 2010 ( purchased second hand Dec 2011)

Model: e61 535i 6MT M sport

Mileage: 45k

Maintenance: To date, routine oil change, front left DRL bulbs and battery tie down recall.

Previous Maintenance : I know that standard BMW maintenance was followed and that the fuel pump was replaced under the recall.

Hello

I have a 530xd '06 with 290 000 km on the meter. Bought the car in april and drove it ca 10000 km since then. Things on my to do list now: Replace tailgate lock (the tailgate don,t close), remove flaps, change main thermostat, clean up egr system... Recently changed the diversity antenna, fixed some tailgate wires, changed egr stat and had a quick service, oil and filters and so on. Previous owner changed gearboxoil and the differential oils, dpf, dynamo, and lots of bits and parts and of course serviced it well.

I have an ongoing problem with the known "juddering" on revs 1200 to 1500 rpm.. Not a big problem, but I'll try to sort that out

All in all, the car works well, consider the high milage

Wow, what kind of driving was the last owner doing? At an above average 20,000 km a year we are doing, it would take us over 10 more years to get that mileage!

Hello,

E61 2004/08, mileage 315.000. Bought in Germany i am second owner, car had 270.000.
Previous owner changed: battery, exhaust manifold (known issue) oil, filters PDC (rear).
I owe car now for 3 and a half years, so far what i done was:
1. Original gar box filter/oil
2. All brake pads/ disc+ sensors, upgraded to ventilated discs.
3. Diff oil
4. Distribution belt (alternator, pomp ext) and the rollers including with pensioner
5. PDC rear 2x
6. Cleaned AGR, checked but not removed flaps, looks OK for now
7. Ignition glow plugs
8. Panoramic roof drains, got clogged, had to dry the boot and recharge battery, lost voltage due to high humidity, luckily no relays were wet/ burned.
9. Software change for LCI, gear box software too, much smoother gear changes by the way. new NAVI, USB, I phone connections via adapter installed- awesome.
10. LCI lead lamps and rear installed.

Car runs good despite mileage.
