Thanks for your comments.
I have looked all of those you guys mentioned, and I guess I have to pick one of those. Thule has good looking boxes like Spirit, which I think suits best for E61, because of nice and sporty look. But as I really need it for cargo (bags and toys etc) Thules Atlantis 900 might be good choice (r.a.i. )

maximum cargo and with Atlantis 900 you get a lot of it. And it is decent looking also...
When I was buying the box last summer (from Finland) thule was the only one I found...
Congratulations for a new car, use it well!!!

Hi again.
I chose Thule. Today I went to a Thule dealer and after a short bargain we got a deal of Atlantis 900 and Thule Rapid rack system. Total 600eur, and the guys helped me to install the whole system. The box is huge, like a sleeping-car. It seems to be extremely easy and simple to use, except if you need to take it off frequently. Only color available was silver/black - looks ok though with my Alpine White.
Only thing bothers me is it has to be installed quite front to avoid crash/contact with boot lid. It looks a bit front weighted.
r.a.i. - have you had any worries with your boot lid or placing your Atlantis 900?

650 litres on top!! Surprisingly doesn't really make a sound even at 120kmh, nor real effect on consumption.

Hello,
I'm looking too for a roof box. My preferences went to Thule but, after I red a crash test made by the Touring Club of Switzerland, I started to have doubts. Thule Atlantis flew since the roof to the frontal crash test (30 Km/h)!!! That appears incredible but Touring Club of Switzerland is very serious with its test. There is the test report but only in french and german:
French: http://www.tcs.ch/etc/medialib/main/rubrik.../3801_01_fr.pdf
German: http://www.tcs.ch/etc/medialib/main/rubrik.../3801_01_de.pdf
What do you think ?

Actually I have had same problems with both boxes I have.
I think that the design of boot lid - I mean the opening is quite big and opens very high, causes the contact with the box. I don?t worry about
that too much...I think that the problem is the same with every big box out there..
I have also installed the box same way as you, propably the only way - and it seems to come little bit over the windshield.
But there is no problems with loading it. Just remember to put larger weight in the middle. My last trip I drove 4500km with the box fully loaded with no problems.
I have the same and only colour. Black looks better, but it heats up quite a lot at the sun..
