Is yours the 218hp version? Wasn't enough for fast overtaking on A or B roads? Since I will hold the car for at least 10 years I don't want to push the engine with the re-map. A 530d with 231hp and 500nm would be more than enough for my needs. That's what I think now anyway.
There's a difference between being (more than) good enough to overtake on A or B roads and having an even better engine under all circumstances (but part-load throttle particularly)...

Get yourself a brandnew LCI (facelift) 520dAT, with the opitions and colour combinations you like.

Cheaper milages and taxes!

A new one is always a new one

Is the facelifted 520d available soon though ? In the UK, the 520d will be updated in Sept and not March. I changed my order from a 520d to a 525d as a result.

I got a good deal from a dealer in Athens for my order (about 10%), which I take in serious consideration.

Now, should I wait for the proper facelift of the 520d (engine, transmission etc.) for this September?

Finally I decided to go with a petrol car as diesel is not allowed where I live (I have just discovered that they expanded the restricted areas).

As BMW 5 series don't make a 2.0l petrol, my choices where the Mercedes E200 K T Auto and the Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TFSI multitronic. I got a great deal for a brand new A6 fully loaded (almost anything, *incl. adaptive air suspension*) and payed the deposit for the order. So in 3 months I'll change brand.

Thanks anyone for your time.

Shame you couldn't get the 5er, however I think you've gone for a smart alternative. I have friends and colleagues with A6 diesels comparibly powered to the 2.0l petrol and they are all very pleased with their choice. (Well those with the 2.0TDi complain about lack of power, but what did they expect!).

Enjoy the toys...
