Is using the "repair kit" for the tailgate wiring better than replacing whole thing?

I had the same issue last year, when I opened up the loom it was already repaired (I assume by BMW)
But it was done very badly, they just cut the wires and soldered them together.
This gives 2 problems: your loom gets even shorter and the hard soldered parts are right on the spot where they are supposed to flex...
So I cut the wires from about 10 cm before the hinge to about 10 cm behind it and soldered in a new piece for every wire.
Allot more work then just cutting and soldering back together, but I believe more durable.
With mine the damage was all in the right hand side, left seemed oke.
