The wagons were extremely rare and generally never in dealer inventory. They were pretty much special order only.
Reportedly coming back for the 2012 model year (the W212 E63 wagon) but I expect the position to be much as it was with the prior W211 model. Technically available, but close to impossible to find...

I'm curious if the parts cost $550 (video module + camera), how much the labour will be, unless you got yours a while back and maybe the parts cost a lot more / they used totally different stuff?

As good as you claim the CTS is, it's FUGLY.
I'm sure that many people justify decisions to buy cars with all manner of reasons, but to me, a car still has to appeal visually and make me want to get in it.
If I was given a CTS, I'd want a balaclava too.
I can only assume that BMW (and Audi if they do it) have looked at costs of importing versus the amount of potential owners and made a business decision on that.
That said, I find it hard to believe that they'd think a GT would be any sort of replacement for a Touring. Correct me if I'm wrong but many of these CC, GT and A7 type cars are only 4 seat, not 5. That would rule out loads of people in the first place, let alone the fact that space is nowhere near as usable.

Isn't the CTS wagon more along the same size as 3 series wagon? It sure does not look anywhere near the size of the 5 series (behind the rear seats anyways).
The CTS looks like its "trying to hard" (attention whore) IMHO. The 5 (E61 or F11) looks like the what a full size wagon should look like.
The interior and exterior design of the new MB just doesn't float my boat.
I am still pissed at Volvo for dropping the V70. I owned a 1995 940, 99 XC and now a 2004 V70 2.5t AWD and loved them all. The '04 now as 85K miles on it and I would like to replace it with a new V70 but its not going to happen. An XC70 (FWD or AWD) just does not cut it.
I just can't imagine why BMW does not offer the F11 as a special order. How many of the parts would be different from the F10? Some body panels and some trim bits (rear lights, headliner.......). If they did offer it they would just have to explain to new owners that some parts may take a while to get because we have to order them from GE (ie if the car was in an accident or something).
I just cannot see that logistics to support an F11 would be that much more expensive.

Unless the US government stupidly insists on it going thru all the crash testing, and can't rely on the 5 series sedan's crash testing results, which is my guess...
