Hi All,
I am very excited to have ordered my dream 535xi SW in Deep Sea Blue & Natural Brown Dakota, Prem, Sports Package, Logic 7, HD, Sat, Ipod, After ordering in late February, I finally was given a production number a month later on 3/25/08. My sales rep says things should go quickly from there. But now 10 days later, the status is still on order on bmw site and in her computer. She tells me that their is a global delay (because of demand) for all 5 series including the Touring.
Any info on this?
Thanks for understanding my impatience..
Will

Historically have it been delays when a car have been ordered in springtime. This is because production slots have been filled for the volumes to be made before the model year change and the summer holidays. I don't know if this is the case for your car and this spring, but some years this has been the cause.

Thanks, I guess I was over anxious; the status this week is scheduled for production. I do have a question though; at what point is the VIN number typically available to enable tracking the shipping process?

Don't depend too much on the owners circle tracking information. In my case it was about 7-10 days behind. It took a couple of days to show the order was entered, the VIN appeared and then lagged thereafter. I had my car on the road for about 10-11 days and still said it was in transit from NJ. Took about 8 weeks from order to delivery in my case. Ordered mine this past winter, however and I've had it for about a month now. I'm in love .... like it better than my '04 545i sport. This week gets the Dinan upgrade.
It's worth the wait.
