Touring rear suspension failures

A firm in germany that specialises in these things, they list the pump on ebay but my suggestion is deal with them direct. I purchased the pump as a whole including the valves and relay and overnight shipping to the UK for 405gbp.

Animal, did you get your suspension fixed? What was needed? Compressor replacement or just hoses and relay... I have new set of hoses and hose connectors for both ends, (bag and compressor end). Fixed my leaking inlet hose after 50kms of first warning, and sometimes it still gives me fault or failure error, but rear havent dropped at all.

Checked mine today after reading this and other bits about them failing.
2004 E61 530D, 112k miles.. whipped the cover off and found what looked like a brand new compressor with the braided hose.. so i think its been replaced at some point. Saves me a job anyway.
Only took about 15 mins with the car up on the kerb for access (8mm and 10mm sockets/spanners) so worth checking.

I merely replaced my inlet pipe with fuel hose (its not under pressure so why not) and reduced the ride height on the back via INPA slightly - this stops the warning lights coming up, the compressor is no longer able to lift the car to the correct SE specifications which is why it was flagging a warning everytime.
See my lowering thread as I've just lowered the rear further which should make the comp last a bit longer - with my two dogs in the back (110kgs collectively) it levels out nicely still

FWIW, I recently had a transfer case servo motor actuator relaced ,due to a 4x4 failure warning, and the vehicle software was updated to the latest version. I was having the rear self leveling suspension failure indication on 90% of the time, even thought it seemed to be working ok. Now the warning is seldon on, to the point where I won't bother changing the pump etc like I was planning on before. Early production 2006 535XiT, 188,000km.

It's an old thread but apparently a common issue, so I'll post my experience in the hope that it helps someone. I have an 07 530xiT with 62k miles. I got the self leveling failure message on Thursday and it has been on consistently since then. I have no other symptoms -- the rear isn't riding lower, no unusual noises, and the handling is not noticeably different. After reading this thread I decided to get under the car and look around.
I didn't find what I expected. First, the hose to the compressor is a new braided one. While I don't know that it's original to the car, it seems possible that this fix from BMW predated the LCI for the E61.
Second, my problem was a frayed wire. The brown wire to the lower connector on the compressor was completely worn through. Clipping the damaged section and splicing the remainder fixed the warning. It would have been 15 minutes had I had the requisite parts to make a wire repair.
Picture attached of the wire hanging down; note the fraying on the tape as well.
Good luck all,
