I wonder about these warnings.

I drove all the way to Stockholm yesterday, and in Stockholm, some 500km. I only got one warning, and the car handles fine, even at 150km/h.

I drove off the ferry this morning, and drove to work. Now I drove home (120km today), now warnings.

It depends on a lot of things - temperature, stress, humidity, I suppose even atmospheric pressure. There is no simple logic in it.
I got multiple messages over 3 months, the car was down almost scraping the road a few times, but it always recovered, some times 2 days later.
At the end I just got annoyed and replaced the compressor, although it never failed "permanently".

I am annoyed and I will replace the damn thing.

I have looked at the rear hundreds of times, before and after the warnings, and the suspension does not look any different.

my old compressor is gone. and thinking about how to lift upo the rear for a while i decide use T-max air compressor which is for tyre inflate.
Specification of the compressor is 72L/min, MAX pressure 10.3Bar, 537Watt motor.
so few days of researching into different sites, i decide to try with this t-max.
and it works. i load a trunk of 2 20L oil cans + dead battery + myself and compressor switchs on and lift the rear.
sorry for bad pictures (taken by phone)

Is it possible to just remove the air suspension and have conventional (non-problematic suspension) on this car?

the compressor is the only problem point, and mostly on early cars (manufactured 2004-2006). So once you replace that, everything will be fine. It could be that a (cheap) sensor here and there requires replacement at some point, but I have not heard about any other problems with the air springs or something else.

Forgot to say that your car is LCI, so its quite unlikely it will have a problematic air compressor
