Default Touring rear speaker wiring

Does anyone know the wiring colours for the rear (roof mounted) speakers, or know of the location of an audio wiring diagram for tjhis vehicle. I have the standard audio in a 2009 UK 530i M sport.

On the drivers side the wires have a brown stripe on one wire and a black strip on the other. I plan to splice into these but wanted to know which is + and which is -.

Yellow/black is the Positive , yellow/brown is the minus.

Default Thank you

Thank you, that is really helpful.

I have built a replacement speaker mounting from perspex, that holds a Focal component mid/bass and tweeter (that is in a motorised housing, so that it pops up when the head unit is activated). This will be powered by Genesis profile amp. My front speakers will be replaced by Jehnert Flat-Line sub, mid and tweeter driven by Genesis Dual Mon Extreme. Rear subwoofer is JL Audio unit in DIY sealed cabinet powered by Genesis Dual Mono.

Based on the use of this amp set up, sub and Jehnert front door pods in my previous E30 tourer I am expecting good results.

Sounds like a nice system. Is your DIY subwoofer cabinet stealth using the side panels or is it free standing in the cargo area? I am about to install a full stealth Bit One/Mobridge/Mosconi/Morel system and wondering where there is enough space in the cargo area to hide the subwoofer.

Don't these cars have subs under the front seats? Lots of people with 3 series replace them with Earthquake SWS-8 speakers that are an exact fit, but punch a lot harder with an added amp.

According to my installer the 8" woofers under the front seats have to handle lower midbass that the 4" midranges in the front doors cannot, so they need to be woofers and not subwoofers. The optimal setup is to have a dedicated subwoofer in the rear cargo area to cover low bass.

Those sws8 subs go down to 30hz when installed properly (ie sealed) and driven with an amp.
Plus they are up front so integrate far better than any sub in the boot.

I can guarantee you will not want a sub in the rear if you have sws-8's installed properly.

Default Rear Sub

My sub is a small sealed standalone enclosure. The under seat speakers do give some front bass but the rear sub adds a lot to the dynamic range and headroom of the system. My JL driver is too deep to fit in a side panel, but other subs could be built in to the passenger side compartment. The other option people could consider (if you have run flat tyres fitted) is to utilise the under floor spare wheel space to build a stealth enclosure.
