I have a few LED's out in the third brake light and the cheapest new clear third brake light looks to be $160 plus shipping. Is this brake light repairable, or best to just replace? I'm handy with a soldering iron, but it'd be a first for me. I'm guessing you can't pop open the housing, but I have yet to remove from the vehicle.


Obviously this would be more time intensive, but I currently have more of that to spare than that of $$$. Spent a good bit on the big black wagon lately chasing oil leaks and adaptive headlight error. I forsee walnut blast in its future and who knows what else will go bad at 77k miles.

Might want to disassemble just to ensure no water intrusion or other easy to miss issues. Might just be an easy and inexpensive fix. Easy enough to get to once the wing is off.

I guess at 10 yrs of age, check anything acting odd for water intrusion related wear and tear.
