Tailgate Window Strut Replacement
So the tailgate window for my 2010 E61 stays open (kinda) but is a bear to get open - can barely do it with one hand. I've replaced struts on an entire rear door for my wife's Touareg but never just for the window. So I wanted to ask if anyone has a DIY process specifically for the E61 tailgate window.
I've seen a few write-ups for the E39 (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=354926) but nothing for the E61. Is the process the same? I assume I just need to replace the window struts but can't find the parts here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=41_1592
Thanks!

The hinges are part numbers 41627210667 and 41627210668. If you google image those parts, you’ll see the spring that supports the weight of the glass. You may have corrosion in the hinge pins and/or a broken spring. You should be able to get a look at them by removing the trim in front of the hinges. Good luck, let us know what you find.
